Remember Pune of the ‘90s? It used to be called a “pensioner’s paradise”, as it was an ideal destination for settling in old age. It boasted of a cool climate, extensive greenery and a relaxed ambience. The story has changed drastically over the last 3 decades. Climate change has affected our dear city. Summers are unbearable these days. Air-conditioners are becoming a common household gadget. India, as a nation, has recorded thousands of deaths in the last decade…all because of heat waves. Pollution level has gone up too! It may not be illogical to expect that air purifiers may become another necessary household gadget soon. Running all these machines will lead to a further increase in pollution level. It’s a vicious cycle after all!
Nature is giving out red signals and all of us have to ACT before it is too late. How do we do that? It’s simple! We plant more and more trees. From providing shades to purifying air, trees play a key role in keeping the environment healthy. What every city in the world needs today, is an extensive green cover that can address both the problems…rising ambient temperature and pollution. Pune is no exception either.
At Goel Ganga group, our journey of more than 4 decades of Building with Real Rich has been about creating clean, green and happy spaces that can make life Real Rich for the users. It has also been about building communities that believe in sustainability. All our projects include sustainable features and we have always taken efforts in saving the environment in our own way.
This World Environment Day, we decided to go one step further. We launched “Project Chhaya”, an initiative to build back Pune’s green cover and bring people together. People, who will actively participate in creating a greener Pune. Yes, we decided to build a community of environment crusaders.
“Chhaya”, in Marathi, means “shade”. We have named the endeavour “Project Chhaya”, as we aim at creating a protective shade forall the Punekars. We started on June 5th, 2024, by planting 101 tree saplings. And we have decided to plant 101 tree saplings every month. From planting trees, distributing tree saplings at street corners to raising awareness, we have dedicated ourselves to encouraging more and more Punekars to join this effort.
We strongly believe that this is the only way we can Build a truly Real Rich future for all. We have this dream that soon, Pune will have a canopy of trees that will save every Punekar from the unbearable summer heat and heavy pollution.
